A HOME IN THE SUN

The real thing isn’t in the reflection, neither is the beholder who sees the thing and the reflection. What is there is another thing, another face, another level, the essence of ever-change and ever-lasting in the same shape and look. Look! The sun didn’t move but the light is drawing another reflection of the same shape. Look! The water doesn’t stop moving, but the eternal metamorphic mirror is still there. Look! The ocean didn’t change place, but the footprints on the moving waves are following the open liquid path. Look! The lights are on at home, but the eyes are cradling a starry sky in the vigil of the night. Look! The sun is rising, but the moon remains in the bosom of dawn. Look! The bird is starting to sing! The journey of a new day is rising…

A HOME IN THE SUN

Not in the sand of the desert
Because it would be covered and forgotten
Not in the plains, vast and tiring
Because the distance is more elusive there
Not in the mountains, high and stiff
Because the cold would freeze the breath and the eyes
Not in the heart of the city, indifferent and mechanical
Because the noise would silence the songs within
Not in the labyrinth of Crete
Where memory loses its thread and path
Not in the playful mischievous hands of the games of fate
Where life ends before it begins
Not in belvederes of mirages and silence
Where the springs dry before they arrive to the sea
Not in the shadows of the distant unknown
Where the ground beneath the feet
Escapes from the eyes as a fugitive ghost
Not in the lightning of the storm
Where the light blinds and wounds
Not in the narrow ways of the black forest
Where dark giants devour the sun and remain dark
Not within the fragile limits of flesh and bone
Where red rivers dry in vain agony
Not within the bondage of the geometric brain
Where the soul is an unknown guest
Not in the landscapes of illusion and splendor
Where truth agonizes covered by dead diamonds
Not in the far crossroads of the future
A non-day in a non-place
Not in the complexity of hermetic philosophies
Where imagination loses its wings of freedom
Not in the silent mirrors of thirst
Tears drinking the eyes
Fleeting windows flowing in the rivers of time
Not in the worldly stage of masterful players
Spiders caught in the continuous web of life
“Sound and fury” consuming flame after flame
The deep voice of the soul…

By the sea, surrounded by the gifts of the sun,
Merged in the crystal simplicity of senses
Singing and dancing in the twin flight of the seagulls
The warm embrace of life in the soft breeze
The liberating infinity of the sky
Along endless summer days in all seasons
The footprints of the dreams yet to come
And a thousand promises in the horizon
That’s the place
The right place to be
That’s where you’ll find me…
